Policies
Class Schedules
Class dates and times will be determined based on interest and age levels. Class placement is determined by each student's skill level and is done at the discretion of the instructor.
The IGNITE! class schedule typically follows the Heartland Community School calendar. In most cases, if a holiday is observed by Heartland, the studio will also be closed. Inclement weather closings will follow the Heartland schedule. In the event of a weather closing, parents will be notified via email. Make-up classes due to inclement weather will be scheduled by the instructor.
Drop-Off/Pick-Up
Students should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before their scheduled class. Parents/guardians are responsible for arranging transportation for their children to and from class or other scheduled performances. The door opening to the studio will be kept closed during class to avoid distractions. Siblings remaining on-site must be supervised by a parent or guardian and are not allowed on the dance floor.
Tuition and Fees
30 minute classes (ages 3-4): $65 per 8-week session
1 hour classes (ages 5+): $78 per 8-week session
Annual registration fee: $20/individual or $40/family
Our 2011-2012 schedule will likely include two 8-week sessions. The first session is tentatively scheduled to begin in October. The actual 2011-2012 schedule will be set in August after Heartland Community School's calendar has been finalized. Depending on the date of our recital, an additional shorter session may also be added to the schedule to help students prepare for our final performance.
Tuition must be paid in advance and is due on the first day of class each session. If tuition is not received by the third week of class in a given month, a $20 late fee will be assessed. There is a $30 fee on each returned check. Invoices are not mailed, so please make sure your account is kept current. For those paying monthly via cash or check, a locked payment mailbox is located in the waiting area at the studio.
As an added convenience, IGNITE! offers the option to have tuition automatically deducted from a checking or savings account. Please contact the studio for an Automatic Payment Form.
Students are responsible for purchasing the recital costume selected for their group. Recital costumes cost approximately $50-$100 per class. A $25 costume deposit is due at the time of enrollment. The remaining costume fee balance will be due when the costumes arrive. Parents are responsible for costume alterations if needed. There may be additional fees for various other items during the year such as tights, hair/shoe ribbons, props, or competition entry fees. Parents will be informed of any additional fees as early as possible if they apply. Please ensure proper care of your costumes and props, as some of these items may be used year-after-year.
Withdrawals and Refunds
Students may withdraw from class at any time. However, tuition is not refundable after it has been paid. Costume fees are also non-refundable once costumes have been ordered. Upon withdrawal, any remaining costume balance fees will be due.
Performances
Students will have the opportunity to perform at recitals, sporting events, and other community activities. Please make every effort to attend and participate in these performances. The annual dance recital will be held in spring at the Heartland Community School theater.
Attendance and Student Commitment
Attendance is vital to a dancer's progress. In order to perform at any event, the student must attend class regularly. Make-up classes due to student absences are not offered. Older students will be asked to bring a small notebook to class to write down new dance skills. Students should practice their skills and routines at home during the week.
Photos/Videos
Parents will have an opportunity to purchase group and individual photos of their children in recital attire. Please participate in the photos to ensure that the group photo includes all class members; however, purchases are optional. Videos/DVDs of performances and recitals may be available for purchase. The studio reserves the right to use photos and videos for both online and print advertising and/or other public relations purposes.
Shoes/Attire
Students should wear dance attire to class (e.g. leotards/tights or tops/shorts) and hair should be securely tied away from the face. Please, no baggy shirts, pants, or jeans. Dance attire can be purchased through the studio at any time.
Ballet students are required to wear ballet attire to class, such as a leotard and tights (any color). This is important so that the instructor can check the line and body placement of each student. Ballet skirts, bike shorts, and fitted dance tanks/shrugs/cardigans may be worn over the leotards.
Students will have the opportunity to purchase dance shoes at our annual open house held in early September each year. Shoes generally cost $20-$60 per class. Dance shoes should be worn during all classes. Shoe colors and styles must meet the specifications of the instructor, and each shoe must be clearly labeled with the student's name. In order to protect our dance floors, dance shoes should not be worn outdoors.
Classroom Etiquette
No food or drinks are allowed in the studio. Gum is also not allowed. Please silence or turn off cell phones to minimize distractions during class.
Address/Contact Information
Students and parents are responsible for ensuring that the studio has their current contact information, including home address and phone number(s). Please also make sure we have a current email address, as class updates and information will often be distributed via email.
Medical Release/Waiver
Parents and guardians must sign a medical release and waiver before their children are allowed to participate. If a child has special health concerns, please contact the studio.
IGNITE! Dance & Cheer reserves the right to change and/or update policies and procedures at any time.
